ADD- attention deficit disorder (without the hyperactive component)

allopathic medicine- medicine used in the Western world to treat the symptoms of the disease rather than the cause of disease
biofeedback- a training in which the response of the brain waves and muscle tension is mirrored back to the trainee in order for him/her to consciously control it
coaching- instruction and education given in how to live optimally
counseling- guidance given on resolving emotional problems and personal conflicts
dreamwork- the process of unraveling the meaning of a dream
energy medicine- an alternative healing modality which utilizes vibrational frequencies, sound waves, prayer, and the like
holistic- looks at the physical, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental aspects of the individuals in order to seek full, permanent recovery
homeopathy- a method of treating disease using the principle of like cures like
inner child work- a path to empowerment, freedom, self loving through befriending your own inner child within
integrative- working together with other aspects or components
meditation- a devotional exercise that can be spent with continuous focus in the present moment only, avoiding thoughts of the past or future
metaphysics- a branch of philosophy which studies the meaning and nature of life
naturopathy- a system of treating disease with natural methods and by treating the whole person (see holistic)
neurofeedback- a branch of biofeedback - other names: EEG biofeedback, neurotherapy, neuroprogramming- training done with the brain waves in which sensors are put on the scalp and rewards the desired brain waves through positive feedback
neurotransmitter- chemicals in our body used to relay messages from one cell to another
philosophical counseling- counseling in which the client is assisted in developing his/her own life philosophy
positive affirmation- a technique used to program the subconscious mind to effect change by repeating (or meditating on) a key phrase to bring about the desired outcome
psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) – an interdisciplinary approach in which one studies the interaction and effect between the immune system, the nervous system, and the psychological responses
quantum biofeedback- other names: QX, QXCI, EPFX, SCIO- advanced biofeedback utilizing the principles of alternative medicine, oriental medicine theory, nutritionals, energy medicine and quantum physics to reach optimal health
self mastery- a process of self and life understanding and transformation
tikkun olam- a person’s own individual part they play out in repairing the world “healing the world one soul at a time starting with mine”
traditional oriental medicine theory- asserts that the body and all of it’s parts interact with itself as well as it’s environment, therefore imbalance is created and harmony must be restored by opening up the blocked pathways
western medicine- (see allopathic medicine) other names: mainstream, orthodox, and conventional medicine
vibrational medicine- (see energy medicine)
