Nutrition for Emergency Preparedness

Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 3:40 pm was a wake up call for me. A wake up call for my lack of preparation. As a San Diegan I am spoiled. What do I have to worry about in sunny California? Well, when the blackout hit San Diego County I was ecstatic I wasn't stuck in an elevator. Yes, that was my first thought on that hot, muggy day. When I left the office it took me 45 minutes to get home instead of 10 minutes. That was even okay. I realized I did have some supplies, but they were scattered around my house. I couldn't locate the D batteries for my lantern nor the AA for my radio.

Hormonal Balance

Hormonal balance is vital to optimum health. They are body's chemical messengers, which regulate the endocrine system. The endocrine system is very important because it influences almost every cell in the body. The hormones send messages to cells in the body to raise or lower blood pressure, regulate mood, stimulate growth, it is involved in youthful appearance, fertility and sex drive among many other processes.

Reconnective Healing

I came across Reconnective Healing when I was seeking for answers to what was happening with my own body. I was experiencing vibrations that would travel throughout my body. I asked friends, doctors, therapist, healers and energy workers what this might be. No one could give me a satisfactory answer.

What Are Emotions

Emotions are physiological. We feel them in our body. Remember the last time you became upset; perhaps your blood pressure shot up and you felt as if your head would pop off. Maybe you were concerned for a loved one and you felt it in your chest or your stomach and you couldn't eat. Often times emotions become stuck in our bodies. And unprocessed emotions show us where they are hiding by giving us discomfort in that body part. That's the beauty of nature; the wisdom of the body.

Healing the Body

Memory is not only stored in the brain, it is stored in body as cellular memory. It reveals itself in body aches, illness, diseases, and the like. It records every thought, action, and memory. The brain and the body are not separate as philosopher Decartes proclaimed. But spirit mind and body are intricately intertwined.

Alternative Treatment for Anxiety and Depression

Anti-depressants have become the catch-all treatment option for depression. What many people don't realize is that there are other complementary alternative methods as options. Many patients on anti-depressants complain of feeling more anxious, not quite themselves, or just feeling a little off. Medications can even work for awhile, and eventually the dosage may have to increase to remain effective. But instead of putting a band-aid on the problem, look for lasting solutions. Begin the practice of the holistic approach.
